Want to help alleviate the humanitarian crisis occurring in Gaza? Support the "Green Gaza Biosphere and Industrial Ecology Movement" for sustainable technology & information transfer. Since material relief supplies can't be safely shipped to the suffering Gazan civilians we ask the world community to send designs & in...structions for self-help in local production of safe clean energy, food, medicine & water recycling.

If we consider Gaza to be like a materially enclosed biosphere we may find that with good information the citizens themselves may be able to turn locally found materials and waste products into the raw materials for providing health and a dignified life until the political situation has been resolved. Reducing dependency on outside supplies would ... See Morebe the first step in reducing the horrible conditions of deprivation that keep the cycle of despair going. With the Russians, French. Italians and Germans now working together to simulate a Mars mission, and the astronauts on the ISS using new water recycling technologies, it would be a crime if the ideas for locally autonomous industrial ecology and biospherics solutions were confined to outer space when so many people are suffering here on earth. What I learned when I was in Israel and Palestine last week on a video conference with the scientists, teachers and students in Gaza was that they are very interested in applying these technologies in their isolated "island economy" but need support in knowing how to make these "green technologies" work using local and inexpensive materials. It would be in everyone's interest, including Israel's, I've learned, to help Gaza become self-sufficient in food, energy, water, shelter and medical security. If the argument for the blockade is the fear of weapons getting through to those who feel independence can only be achieved through violent struggle, then we in the world community must demonstrate to all parties that there are huge numbers of people in Gaza, in the West Bank, in Israel, in the Americas, in the Arab World, in Europe, In Africa, in Asia, who see a different road to independence, a peaceful road that starts with giving everybody the right to self-determination through being able to provide for their families those things upon which not only survival, but a dignified life depends.

Ethno-botanist friends, "alternative medicine" friends, chemists, pharmicst and biologist friends; can you make information available to our Gazan friends to help them revive and improve traditions for medicinal plants and treatments so there isn't so much dependency on outside medical supplies?

Engineering friends, architect friends, can you make information available to our Gazan friends to help them build sustainable shelters that use the local environmental parameters (passive solar heating and cooling designs made from local and recycled materials, like the "Earth Ship" homes and the rock and adobe and bottle and can and geodesic ... See Morehomes we saw at for example at Kibbutz Lotan and in South Africa at the Earth Summit?) Then they wouldn't need flotillas to try and deliver bags of cement. And with biogas from garbage they wouldn't need bottled gas... etc.
